Welcome to North Cow Creek School

12/5 @ 4:00 pm:

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding in  handling the current incident. We realize many parents choose to keep their students home. We understand this choice and this absence will not be counted against students. I also want to thank the Sheriff Department for providing an officer for the entire day. His presence was reassuring as we worked together to investigate this incident and in determining any safety risks to our students.

While we have not identified a specific student, we have narrowed down the list. In working with the sheriff officer today our findings do not show any evidence that there is a safety risk by these students. We believe we can continue school tomorrow normally. However, we will continue to be vigilant and continue the investigation with help from the Sheriff’s department.

As always, we are in the process of reviewing what we did well and what we can do better. One concern we’ve heard is that this morning was late notice and we are reviewing timelines that provide effective communication in a timely manner while also honoring the investigative process.

We also heard that many didn’t receive the communication from school. We worked with our vendor and believe we have fixed the problem.  Please know that if we anticipate any compromise in the safety of your students, we will reach out to you.

12/5 @ 6:40 am:
We would like to update our families on an incident that is being shared among our community regarding an incident that occurred at school.

Late in the day Monday a student reported that someone wrote a note on the inside stall door of the upper grade boys bathroom. The note stated that the school would be shot up on 12/5. We reviewed video camera footage and have determined that no unfamiliar person enter the bathroom. As we have been researching this incident, we believe this was a prank and have been working to identify the student who wrote the note.

As we have yet to identify the student, and as a precaution,  we have contacted the Sheriff's department who will be providing a presence at the school at various times throughout the day. We will continue to work with the Sheriff's department to investigate this incident and to ensure the students are safe.

Our wildly popular Quarter Craze event is scheduled for Friday, December 6, from 6:00-9:00. While this event is feared for adults, there will be activities available for kids. Check out the flyer by clicking the link below.

We have been working on a redesign of our parking lot to address safety and efficiency in the drop off and pick up of students. Pending State approval and receiving modernization monies from the proposed State bond, the design found HERE (Click HERE) is being worked on. Feel free to email comments or questions to Mr. Kurtz.

Our new Innovation Lab includes a Maker Space section where students can design a variety of projects as they build their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. Mrs. Gamble, our I-Lab instructor is requesting a variety of household items to be used in the Maker Space section. Click on the icon to the left to view items you can donate.

We are in need of substitute paraprofessionals and custodians. If you are interested, please contact/visit the school office to pick up an application.
